Diana died on August 30, 1997. While visiting Paris with her boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed, a producer and playboy, the couple was involved in a car crash attempting to escape the paparazzi. Al-Fayed and the driver were killed in the crash, a bodyguard was seriously injured but Diana was alive when help arrived. Diana succumbed to her injuries a few hours after being admitted to a Paris hospital, the people`s princess was dead. England and the world mourned her death, flowers blanketed the front of Buckingham Palace. She was the People's Princess and the world watched her funeral, held at West Minister Abbey, London - it was televised. She was laid to rest at the Althorp estate.
In 2007, in honour of her 46th birthday and marking the 10th anniversary of her death, her sons, Princes William and Harry held a special concert as a tribute to her. All proceeds of the event went to the charities supported by Diana and her sons.
