Charitable Contributions
Princess Diana managed to bring attention to disabled children, homeless people, children around the globe and those suffering from HIV or full blown AIDS. These are three of her most known contributions.
Helping sick children; what began with working locally with the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London would later extend to the Leprosy Mission and the National AIDS Trust. In 1987, she visited the Middlesex Hospital in London and was the first royal to shake hands with an AIDS patient; palace advisors had tried hard to dissuade her to no avail. In 1991 she travelled to San Paulo, Brazil to comfort abandoned children living with AIDS in a shelter. It was here she was photographed holding a baby with the disease.

The work continues
Sick Children weren`t the only cause she brought attention too. Diana also focused intensely on a handful of charities and would eventually expand her efforts to help victims of landmines. Her legacy continues to this day, a memorial fund that supports the charities and good works that she championed.
